The New York Knicks have reportedly hired Jeff Hornacek as head coach. Here are five reasons you should be excited about the move.
A new era of New York Knicks basketball has begun. The past will be forever cherished, but the announcement of a new head coach has shifted attention from what was to what could be.
According to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report, the Knicks will hire Jeff Hornacek to fill the vacancy at head coach.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Hornacek signed a three-year deal to become the Knicks’ head coach.
Hornacek wasn’t the expected hire by any stretch of the imagination. David Blatt and Frank Vogel were the top candidates amongst outsiders, and interim head coach Kurt Rambis was widely believed to be Phil Jackson‘s preferred candidate.
It was Hornacek, however, who stole the position out from under the media’s top-pegged candidates.
Hornacek, 53, is an enigmatic figure. Many have pointed to the below-.500 record he accumulated during his three-year stint with the Phoenix Suns, but those who have done so have tended to overlook the factors that went into such a number.
For those who are concerned, and those who simply need validation of their faith, here are five reasons to be excited about Hornacek as the Knicks’ head coach.
