DeAndre Bembry, Saint Joseph’s Hawks

Age: 21 (7/4/1994)
Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’5.75″, 207 pounds, 6’9.25″
Slash Line: .479/.266/.657
Season Averages: 37.3 MPG, 17.4 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 4.5 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 0.9 3PM

Arguably the most complete player on this list is Saint Joseph’s Hawks small forward DeAndre Bembry. Bembry’s jumper hit a snag in 2015-16, but he does just about everything there is to do on both ends of the floor.

It’s possible that Bembry would be better suited for the 2 at under 6’6″ with a 6’9″ wingspan, but he’s an intriguing enough prospect that he’s begun to receive late first round hype.

Bembry has enticing defensive potential and the unique ability to get his teammates involved as a facilitator. He’s not necessarily a point forward, but he’s quite capable of handling the ball, penetrating, and finding shooters along the perimeter.

In other words, he’s a perfect fit for Jeff Hornacek‘s offense.

One of the principles of Hornacek’s offensive attack with the Phoenix Suns was the use of multiple high ball screens to create penetration. From there, the ball-handler would read and react to what the defense gave them.

Bembry has the raw ability to thrive in such situations, and that makes him a rational target for the New York Knicks.
