New York Swagger

One of the most important factors in a head coach’s ability to achieve success in New York is how they carry themselves. Coaches who can’t handle the pressure will be exposed within minutes of bursting onto the scene in New York City.

Frank Vogel has the swagger that made previous New York Knicks coaches great.

Vogel is a vocal leader who isn’t afraid to get in a referee’s ear. The Indiana Pacers seemed to respond well to that, as they developed the feeling that Vogel had their back when they they’d been done wrong by the officials.

Vogel was just as quick to call his players out when they were the ones who made mistakes.

If Vogel becomes available, he’d bring youth and a moldable mind to the position. Assuming he’d be receptive to Phil Jackson’s mentorship, he could better understand the nuances of the game and maximize his coaching potential.

Throw in the fact that Vogel grew up in Wildwood, New Jersey, and he’s the perfect person to coach in New York.
