The Indiana Pacers have let head coach Frank Vogel go. It would behoove Phil Jackson to hire Vogel to fill the New York Knicks’ coaching vacancy.
For the past five-and-a-half seasons, few have commanded more respect from the masses than Indiana Pacers head coach Frank Vogel. The young and vibrant man from Wildwood, New Jersey has reinvigorated the organization, leading it to success unachieved since the early 2000s.
With an opportunity looming to bring him to town, one can’t help but plead with Phil Jackson to make Vogel the next head coach of the New York Knicks.
Vogel is a young, defensive-minded head coach with the swagger of a Knicks frontman and the track record of a coach who’s on the cusp of shattering his ceiling. He’s already made multiple deep postseason runs, and did so with teams that lacked the prototypical championship build.
In other words, at 42 years old—just three years older than Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens—Vogel has already earned the label of an overachiever.
With Indiana weighing its other options, this is the perfect opportunity for Jackson to swoop in and make a power move. Vogel wasn’t previously on the radar, but his arrival should lead to an immediate interview and a potential hiring.
With all due respect to the other candidates, the following slides will explain why Vogel is, unequivocally, the best possible option.
