The 2015-16 NBA regular season created very few reasons for confidence in the New York Knicks. If only one positive can be taken away from this 32-50 season, however, it’s that Kristaps Porzingis and Robin Lopez are gelling well enough to be instrumental in the development of Phil Jackson‘s vision.

Talented as that duo may be, it would behoove the Knicks to solidify the center position with an ideal measure of depth.

It’s easy to single out the best available centers, but Lopez’s presence creates a limited set of parameters. Thus, a vast majority of the players on this list are low-cost options who could step in and provide a positive impact as a backup to Lopez and Porzingis.

Being of value to the Knicks means more than just being talented; it must be a combination of financial affordability and the projected willingness to be a reserve.

In two rare instances, however, talent too tantalizing to ignore have presented theirselves. They have the potential to provide the Knicks with the same type of immeasurable upside and immediate value as past standout Triangle Offense big men.

The question is, who are the best fitting free agent centers on the open market?
