4. Joe Johnson, UFA

2015-16 Teams: Brooklyn Nets & Miami Heat

Age: 34

Slash Line: .439/.383/.831

Season Averages: 33.4 MPG, 12.2 PPG, 3.9 APG, 3.6 RPG, 0.8 SPG, 1.5 3PM

The Miami Heat have shined a light on something significant: Joe Johnson still has high-caliber basketball left in the tank. In 24 regular season games with Miami, he averaged 13.4 points on a slash line of .518/.417/.765.

If Johnson, soon to be 35 years old, is willing to be New York’s sixth man, he’d be quite the acquisition.

Johnson is an excellent shooter with an ideal skill set for the Triangle Offense. He made 41.3 percent of his 225 midrange field goal attempts in 2015-16, and shot an excellent 41.1 percent on his corner 3s.

Coupled with his ability to post opponents up and create in isolation—his nickname is ISO Joe, after all—Johnson is perfectly equipped to thrive in the Triangle Offense.

Johnson isn’t the athlete or defender fans may be hoping for, but he’d be of great help as a sixth man in New York. His proficiency as a catch-and-shoot 3-point marksman and midrange scorer, as well as his competence as a facilitator, fit his potential role in the Triangle Offense.

If Johnson is willing to be the team’s sixth man, he could be the type of low-cost addition who rounds out a postseason-caliber roster.
