9. Eric Gordon, UFA

2015-16 Team: New Orleans Pelicans

Age: 30

Slash Line: .418/.384/.888

Season Averages: 32.9 MPG, 15.2 PPG, 2.7 APG, 2.2 RPG, 1.0 SPG, 2.5 3PM

One could make a very strong case for Eric Gordon being a better player than some of the shooting guards listed ahead of him. The reality is, Gordon’s raw talent comes with the caveat that the New York Knicks would be taking on a player with the, “Injury-prone,” label.

Gordon has missed at least 37 games in three of his past five seasons, and was absent for 18 and 21 games, respectively, in the two others.

When healthy, Gordon is one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA. He made 141 3-point field goals in 61 games on a tremendous mark of 44.8 percent in 2014-15, and managed to hit 113 on 38.4 percent shooting in 41 games in 2015-16.

Gordon ranked in the Top 12 in 3-point field goals made per game in both of those seasons.

As a pure talent, Gordon is one of the Top 5 available options for the Knicks due to his marksmanship and ability to create penetration. He’s lost some of his luster defensively, but when motivated, Gordon can make life difficult for opposing scorers.

Gordon is an ideal fit, but his injury history is too much of a red flag to ignore.
