Los Angeles Clippers guard Jamal Crawford continues to defy father time. There’s no telling how much more he has left in the tank, and he may not come one size for all, but has positively influenced the Clippers for the past four seasons.
Crawford’s latest efforts have led to his receiving an NBA record third Sixth Man of the Year award.
That award depicts Crawford’s potential value to the New York Knicks. He’s not going to come in and thrive as a starter, nor is he going to have an out-of-body experience as a lockdown defender, but Crawford will provide instant offense whenever he’s on the floor.
It may not be pretty in the advanced metrics, but any form of consistent offense would be valuable to a Knicks team that ranked No. 22 in points per game in 2015-16.
Whether or not people believe he should’ve won Sixth Man of the Year, Crawford’s been an NBA player for 16 seasons. Keyboard warriors and advanced analytics zealots may not like him, but his role with the Clippers has been what it is.
Crawford’s teammates love him, and his coaches feel the same. He could help the Knicks’ second unit return to competitiveness.
