Mike Conley has never made an All-Star Game, and there really isn’t much sense behind that statement. Conley is a proven postseason performer who routinely leads his team to 45-plus wins and holds his own against the best point guards in the NBA.

The question is, can Conley return for the playoffs in a final audition for potential free agent suitors? Per Ronald Tillery of The Memphis Commercial Appeal:

"Conley isn’t expected to have his sore Achilles re-evaluated until the end of the regular season."

That’s not a promising sign.

Conley has the skill set necessary for a point guard in the Triangle Offense. He’s a solid shooter with 3-point range, a selfless facilitator who can work on or off-ball, and a crafty dribble penetrator who can get his shot off against any caliber of defender.

Conley is also a proven postseason performer and a respected defensive asset, which is what New York needs from its next floor general. Missing the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season is not an option, and Conley is the type of player who can help guarantee that won’t happen.

Conley’s health is simply too much of a red flag to be so easily overlook.
