Phil Jackson Discusses Carmelo Anthony, Future of the Knicks
Does Carmelo Anthony Want Out?
Carmelo Anthony is the highest paid player on the New York Knicks. Regardless of what transpires this coming summer, his contract will still take up a massive portion of the Knicks’ available salary.
Not even a ninth career All-Star Game appearance has been able to save Anthony from the wrath of the masses.
Not only have Knicks fans been calling for Anthony’s head, but the rumor mill has been overrun by reports of his potential departure. Marc Berman of The New York Post reported as recently as Friday, March 11 that Anthony would waive his no-trade clause if a deal were reached with the Los Angeles Clippers this coming summer.
Per Ian Begley of ESPN New York, Jackson doesn’t believe that Anthony wants to leave New York at any point in the near future.
So much for all of that trade talk.
Anthony signed a five-year contract with the Knicks, and the second season has yet to be completed. Three straight seasons without a postseason appearance would be a tough pill to swallow, but Anthony has consistently stated that he wants to play for the Knicks.
The question is, does Jackson want Anthony to be here?
