Phil Jackson Discusses Carmelo Anthony, Future of the Knicks
Is Phil Jackson Leaving?
There’s an unfortunate storyline in existence that Phil Jackson is merely biding his time before leaving the New York Knicks to join the Los Angeles Lakers’ front office. It comes with its fair share of reason, as Jackson won five championships with as head coach of the Lakers.
Los Angeles is also owned by Jackson’s fiancee, Jeanie Buss.
Rather than adding fuel to the fire that rages, Jackson took a fire extinguisher to the flames and put them out in their entirety. He isn’t interested in helping New York become relevant, but is instead focused on making it a contender again.
Per Al Iannazzone of Newsday, Jackson doesn’t plan on leaving the Knicks any time soon.
That’s the first step towards developing an understanding of what’s soon to come for the future of the organization.
Jackson is one of the most decorated head coaches in NBA history, but his first and second of 13 championships were won as a player. The team he played for during those title runs just so happens to be the team he’s president of today: the Knicks.
Jackson wants to restore New York to glory. He isn’t going anywhere.
