Not every free agency target will be immediately attainable. As previously alluded to, the pending options will be acknowledged as the New York Knicks approach a period of free agency that will heavily influence the future of the organization.

According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, the Knicks are one of many teams that will attempt to sign Chandler Parsons this coming summer.

"The list of teams interested in Parsons will be long, with sources expecting theMiami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and Magic to be among Parsons’ suitors. If Durant leaves Oklahoma City, add the Thunder to the list, with a potential reunion with Parsons’ coach at Florida, Billy Donovan."

It’s debatable how structurally feasible a goal that is, but it’s an intriguing opportunity, nonetheless.

Parsons began the season in poor form, averaging 9.2 points in 23.9 minutes during the months of November and December. Since January 5, however, Parsons is averaging 18.4 points on a slash line of .533/.474/.744.

Parsons has scored at least 27 points in three of his past four games, and six of his nine most recent outings.

Parsons is reportedly pursuing a max contract, and that could complicate the pursuit of his services. Signing him would essentially be committing to playing Carmelo Anthony at the 4 and Kristaps Porzingis at the 5, which would put $54 million center Robin Lopez in an uncompromising position.

The question is, does the risk outweigh the reward?
