The New York Knicks have 20 games to right the ship and make a push for the postseason. In order to do so, New York needs a spark plug who can come in, be aggressive, and change the dynamic of the sputtering offense—something Tony Wroten, for better or worse, would provide.

The long-rumored connection was taken to new heights when Frank Isola of The New York Daily News reported that New York has met with Wroten in reference to the final roster spot.

"The Knicks recently met with free agent guard Tony Wroten, who could replace Jimmer Fredette if the club elects not to sign Fredette to a second 10-day contract, the Daily News has learned."

The Knicks opted against re-signing Jimmer Fredette, which has opened the door for Wroten to be acquired.

Wroten has his flaws, specifically a glaring inability to hit a jump shot from just about anywhere on the floor. He’s also a 6’6″ combo guard who can attack the rack at will, finish over and around length, and create for others as a facilitator.

Considering the Knicks are No. 30 in the NBA in points in the paint per game, it’s safe to say that Wroten would be of help to New York’s season.

Wroten had a rough time in 2015-16, playing just eight games before being cut by the Philadelphia 76ers. He’d just returned from a severe knee injury, however, and had played for an organization without structure.

If New York can tap into Wroten’s vast potential, the 22-year-old could provide quite the return.
