NBA Rumors: Free Agents the Knicks Have Been Tied To
The New York Knicks have been tied to a number of potential and current free agents. Who are they and how likely is it that they sign?
Optimistically speaking, the New York Knicks are building for the future. Kristaps Porzingis was selected with the fourth overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft, Carmelo Anthony and Robin Lopez were signed to long-term contracts, and New York has built a fair measure of cap space.
The question is, what will Phil Jackson do with the available money and roster space?
Marc Berman of The New York Post recently reported that the Knicks will not bring Jimmer Fredette back on a second 10-day contract. He’s expected to return to the Westchester Knicks, New York’s D-League affiliate, but will not remain on the main roster.
Thus, the first order of business for New York is finding the player who will fill the 15th and final spot on the main roster.
Long-term, however, the Knicks must answer whether or not they can and should make a run at players who will be available this coming summer. That includes a superstar who has been tied to New York, and a high-caliber player who’s seeking significant money.
The question is, which current and pending free agents have the Knicks been tied to?
