We know who’s available. We know who can be had. This time, we forget about those rumors. Who should the New York Knicks pursue with the trade deadline looming?
The 2016 NBA Trade Deadline will come to pass at 3 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, February 18. At the heart of the rumors leading up to that critical date have been the New York Knicks, which hope to acquire the necessary pieces to escape the recent period of inferiority and restore the team to greatness.
The question is, who can and should Phil Jackson target as potentially vital additions to the rotation?
Due to New York’s relatively underwhelming crop of trade assets, its options are limited on the trade front. Acquiring a perennial All-Star would mean parting ways with draft picks that the Knicks don’t have, and players they can’t afford to deal: Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis.
That doesn’t necessarily hinder New York from making a noteworthy move.
Jackson told reporters that the Knicks will be searching for a significant trade, per Ian Begley of ESPN New York. There are a number of rumored options on that front, but at this point, it’s time to look past the rumors.
Who should Jackson be pushing hard to acquire by Thursday’s deadline?
