As previously alluded to, an option for the New York Knicks could be trading Jose Calderon to the Minnesota Timberwolves for veteran sharpshooter Kevin Martin. The contracts match up, and the value would be relatively even going both ways.

Added to the mix would be point guard Andre Miller, whom Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN reports is being targeted by an unknown NBA team.

Miller isn’t much of a shooter, and his on-court impact has declined at 39 years old, but he’d be the perfect mentor to Jerian Grant.

Calderon has done an exceptional job of helping Grant and Langston Galloway in 2015-16, and not enough has been said about that. He’s a veteran voice in their respective ears, helping them through what has been a trying pursuit of the postseason.

Miller would help maintain that level of respect in the locker room.

Miller is playing in his 17th season in the NBA. Making less than $1.5 million on an expiring contract, adding him to the mix would mean opening the rotation, giving Galloway and Grant more playing time, and providing a needed voice of reason in the locker room.

This would be more of a complementary inclusion in a trade, but Miller could have value in New York.
