If you poll 10 New York Knicks fans about who should receive a 10-day contract, most will single out Tony Wroten. He struggled in 2015-16, but that can be chalked up to a progressive return from a torn ACL and the discombobulation of the Philadelphia 76ers.
On a team with superior structure, Wroten could make a serious impact.
Wroten averaged 16.9 points and 5.2 rebounds on 40.3 percent shooting from the field in 2014-15. He did so on a Sixers team that won won just 18 games—a number that fairly illustrates how poorly that team was built.
For the Knicks, a healthy Wroten would be invaluable.
The Knicks rank dead last in both fast break points and points in the paint—two areas in which Wroten excels. He’s an athletic 6’6″ point guard who thrives in creating penetration and breaking out in transition.
Both of those skills are desperately needed in New York.
