The New York Knicks need a point guard who can create penetration and move the ball with a purpose. There aren’t any elite options available, which means gambling on a player who may or may not be successful in doing so is the route to follow.

Why not gamble on a player who has been here before?

Nate Robinson, a fan favorite in every city he’s played, spent his first four-and-a-half seasons with the Knicks. He thrived as a scorer and, over time, became a respectable facilitator with the Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors.

Unfortunately, as a 5’9″ point guard who relied heavily upon his athleticism, Robinson has struggled to overcome the torn ACL suffered in early 2014.

By giving Robinson a 10-day contract, the Knicks would explore the possibility of his returning to glory. He’s a proven postseason performer who lives for clutch moments, and a respected locker room presence who would be great to bring around a young team.

There’s no telling if Robinson has anything left in the tank, but if he does, New York would be wise to explore the possibility of bringing it out of him.
