Jerryd Bayless, Milwaukee Bucks

Position: Combo Guard

Salary: $3,000,000 (Expiring)

If the Milwaukee Bucks turn their season around and begin to win games with some measure of consistency, Jerryd Bayless may be tough for the New York Knicks to acquire. Bayless has become one of the more valuable reserves in the NBA, and a winning team would value that.

A 3-and-D combo guard who can handle the rock and keep his man in front of him, the 27-year-old would be an ideal fit in New York.

Bayless, 6’3″, is holding opponents to 37.9 percent shooting when he’s the primary defender. He’s No. 10 in the NBA in 3-point field goal percentage and is shooting 46.6 percent from the field during the fourth quarter.

New York, which is No. 24 in 3-point field goals made and 3-point field goal percentage, and No. 29 in fourth quarter scoring, would benefit greatly from Bayless’ presence.

Beyond the offensive value is New York’s need for a veteran point guard who can play at a high level defensively. Bayless has been one of the best defensive guards in the NBA in 2015-16, and that gives him very clear appeal.

Bayless is more of a combo guard than a point guard, but his defense and shooting make him an ideal target on the trade market.
