James Dolan has trusted Phil Jackson to resurrect the long dormant New York Knicks. Jackson’s track record as a head coach is impeccable, but he’s unproven as an executive.

It’s safe to say The Zen Master has New York headed in the right direction.

Not only did Jackson lock Carmelo Anthony up long-term, but he saw what others didn’t in Kristaps Porzingis. That duo is expected to anchor the organization’s championship aspirations over these next four seasons.

The jury is still out on whether or not Jackson can navigate the salary cap to build the ideal supporting cast, but he’s done a very good job thus far.

With Porzingis on the roster, New York has a player with whom it can build for the future. With Anthony locked up, Jackson has provided the star-hungry city with a scorer worth admiring.

It hasn’t been a flawless tenure, but Jackson is an executive whom the Knicks can trust.
