5. The Second Unit

Early in 2015-16, the New York Knicks’ second unit was the source of a great deal of hype. With Carmelo Anthony struggling with inefficiency, the reserves stepped up as the heart of the Knicks.

That wasn’t on display during the first encounter with the Charlotte Hornets.

The second unit scored a total of 29 points against the Hornets on November 11. No individual was in double-figures and the group combined to go 0-for-7 on 3-point field goal attempts.

That will not suffice.

New York needs the likes of Langston Galloway, Jerian Grant, Kyle O’Quinn, Kevin Seraphin, Lance Thomas and Derrick Williams to step up and produce. With that being said, minutes have been tougher to come by since Arron Afflalo returned.

In order to defeat Charlotte, New York will need to trust its second unit again.
