Kristaps Porzingis isn’t the only New York Knicks rookie showing signs of a very bright future. Jerian Grant moved into the role of sixth man against the Atlanta Hawks, and he was nothing short of impressive.

There were expected rookie mistakes, but Grant’s potential as a playmaker was proven as immense.

The rookie committed seven assists to three turnovers. That includes a play during which he attempted to turn an offensive rebound into a touch pass, but had it intercepted.

It wasn’t executed to perfection, but it was a great idea and a telling sign of Grant’s upside as a facilitator.

He struggled a bit defensively, allowing opponents to make all three of the shots he contested, per NBA.com. Fortunately for the Knicks, he continued to play selflessly on offense.

It may only be a matter of time before Grant is the starting point guard.
