The New York Knicks made the somewhat controversial decision to start Jose Calderon over rookie Jerian Grant. Calderon, matched up with Michael Carter-Williams, had an early opportunity to silence the critics.
Calderon didn’t play well at all, but it didn’t seem to matter in the end.
Calderon made just one shot, but it was a timely 3-point field goal that extended New York’s lead to 20 points. Defensively, he struggled to stay in front of Michael Carter-Williams, but that proved less costly than it should’ve been.
MCW shot just 6-of-17 from the field.
For as poorly as he played, Calderon kept the ball moving and committed just one turnover. He played responsibly and didn’t do anything especially harmful to his team.
In the next game, however, Calderon must be more efficient and productive.
