1. Limit Turnovers
The New York Knicks have a revamped roster that can only be expected to experience growing pains. New York is already developing excellent camaraderie, but mistakes will be made as on-court chemistry is developed.
In order to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, New York will need to limit the mistakes and turnovers.
In 2014-15, the Bucks were No. 1 in steals per game—a product of their obscene length and defensive potential. More important than the tendency to force turnovers, however, is Milwaukee’s uncanny ability to turn defense into offense.
According to NBA.com, the Bucks were No. 3 in the NBA in points off of turnovers in 2014-15.
Going up against defenders such as Michael Carter-Williams and Khris Middleton, lazy passes will not suffice. Milwaukee knows how to play the passing lanes and is just as dangerous in on-ball defensive settings.
If New York is unsuccessful in limiting turnovers, it will position itself to open the 2015-16 season at 0-1.
