It helps the Knicks Rebounding Issue

Nearly every single NBA team has one, a hustling glue guy. That’s what O’Quinn’s role was for three years with the Magic. He came in each game as the backup center or power forward.

Kyle’s reputation as a prospect before he got drafted was that he is a tenacious hustle guy, that hits the boards. Part of the reason he was drafted, was an insane game in the NCAA tournament.

O’Quinn had a double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds to lead the his No. 15 seed Norfolk State Spartans to an upset of the No. 2 seeded Missouri tigers.

O’Quinn grabbed 1,092 total boards in his four years at Norfolk State, and that’s his one skill that translated into NBA.

The Knicks were 28th in team rebound rate at 48.1.

His career defensive rebound percentage is 24.1%, that’s higher than any current Knick player and it’s close to the 24.5% that Tyson Chandler posted in New York.

Kyle’s hustle on the boards is something that the Knicks needed and it’s something I’ll look forward to seeing for the next four years.
