Justise Winslow of the Duke Blue Devils is a prospect who compares favorably to current Golden State Warriors wing Andre Iguodala. Iguodala, an All-Star and two-time All-Defensive Team selection, made his name as a do-it-all player who excels on defense.
Winslow could develop into that same type of player.
Winslow is a strong ball-handler with good court vision and the ability to score in the half court as a shooter or penetrator. He’s also a dominant defensive player, when focused, whose athleticism permits positional versatility.
It doesn’t hurt that Winslow and Carmelo Anthony already seem to have a bond.
That’s compelling.
That alone won’t convince Phil Jackson to select Justise Winslow, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be a top option. Winslow is a dynamic playmaker with elite defensive potential and the ability to play the 2 or 3.
Finding an interior force should be a top priority, but with an influx of free agent big men, landing a star perimeter prospect would be ideal.
At No. 5, there’s no better option than Winslow.
