The key for the New York Knicks will be balancing upside with a desired level of certainty. Nothing is a guarantee in the 2015 NBA Draft, but an outright risk isn’t exactly the best thing to take at No. 5.

As polarizing a prospect as he may be, Kelly Oubre has the type of upside that simply can’t be overlooked.

Oubre isn’t a Top 5 prospect, but he’s done a lot for himself in the measurements stage of the 2015 NBA Draft Combine. He stands at roughly 6’7″, which is great size for a shooting guard.

Most impressively, Oubre has a 7’2″ wingspan.

Throw in explosive athleticism and Oubre’s appear is clear to see.

Oubre’s athletic ability, size and length make him a prime candidate for a team that’s willing to be patient with a moldable talent. His consistency in effort has been questioned, but there’s no question that he has what it takes to be a star.

Oubre can shoot, slash, erupt in transition and play dominant defense when focused. He struggles with his in-between game, but Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson are the perfect men to help him hone his skills.

With the luxury of working alongside an established scorer in Carmelo Anthony, Oubre would have a much easier road to stardom if New York were to gamble on him.
