5. Rising Salary Cap

The 2015 NBA offseason will be highlighted by teams attempting to build their teams within the confines of a reasonable salary cap. Come 2016, that won’t be as much of an issue.

The salary cap is expected to rise to roughly $90 million in 2016.

With a rising cap comes an expanding number of possibilities for the New York Knicks. Some may desire an instant fix, but the options are more impressive in 2016 from both financial and personnel perspectives.

With more money and superior players available, 2016 offers the Knicks their best opportunity to strike gold. While 2015 has a reasonable amount of talent, it’s top-heavy without the depth or superstar power of 2016.

For that reason, expectations should be tempered for 2015 and elevated for the following year.
