As the race for last place continues, the New York Knicks put forth an emotionless effort against the Philadelphia 76ers, losing by double digits.
Nothing about tonight’s matchup between the Knicks of New York and the 76ers of Philadelphia screamed the words “WATCH ME” to the millions of basketball fans out there. With the Knicks currently in last place and the Sixers only two spots ahead of them, the only people with the desire to watch this game were the diehards of both sides, and some of them probably had something way better to do on a Friday night.
For those of us Knicks fans who dedicated two-and-a-half hours of our Friday night to watching the game, our loyalty was not rewarded by any stretch of the imagination. The men in blue and orange forgot to show up tonight, playing the game with no passion or desire to win. With Lou Amundson feeling under the weather and not feeling 100%, their was nobody else on the team willing to bring some energy to the court.
New York started the game off shooting the ball well; but as time went on, their shots began to stop going into the basket. As a team, the Knicks were only able to go 36% from the field, and that is just not good enough to win. Surprisingly the team shot well from downtown going 8 for 16 which has been uncharacteristic of the Knicks this season. Turnovers killed New York tonight as they coughed up the rock a grand total of 18 times. Their is no excuse for a professional team to play that sloppy of a game. Then again, the New York’s roster is far from that of a professional basketball team.

The one bright spot for the Knicks once again was the Russian wizard Alexey Shved. Shved contributed 25 points to his team’s effort and gathered in 6 rebounds as well. Number 1 for the Knickerbockers was lights out from behind the arc, going an unbelievable 7 for 8 from three-point-range. This guy is truly unbelievable and makes watching a stinky team enjoyable.
With tonight’s loss, the Knicks fall to an abysmal 14-54. If the Knicks decided to show up this evening, they could have walked out victorious against a team that is just as bad. When you play the game with very little drive and energy, you deserve to lose.
The Knicks look to turn things around on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Toronto Raptors.
