3. Master Free Agency in 2015

The 2015 period of NBA free agency is intriguing. There are star-caliber players at multiple position, specifically down low.

In 2015, the Knicks must put the No. 1 and No. 2 points into motion by mastering free agency.

There are a number of intriguing players who could be in line to land a max contract. That includes power forwards LaMarcus Aldridge and Paul Millsap, centers Marc Gasol and Greg Monroe, and point guard Rajon Rondo.

The likes of DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews offer similar levels of intrigue.

That doesn’t include a cast of restricted free agents who range from K.J. McDaniels to Tobias Harris to Hassan Whiteside to Kawhi Leonard.

Regardless of who’s targeted and signed, the Knicks must make significant strides towards competing in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Durant is unlikely to leave a team that’s already made three Western Conference Finals appearances for one that can’t crack the postseason.

If New York can surround Carmelo Anthony with intelligently-priced players who maintain a high level of production, Durant could join in 2016 to form the latest super-team.
