The Cavaliers are in town to take on the Knicks. This new look Cavs team was constructed to contend for championships, but they are going through some growing pains. Kevin Love is one of the new faces in Cleveland. After only knowing the Minnesota Timberwolves, Love hopes to get a taste of the playoffs for the first time in his career.

The Knicks were interested in trading for Kevin Love this past off-season, but the New York did not have the assets to rival Cleveland’s offer. Love will be an unrestricted free-agent after this season and although most expect him to stay with the Cavs, it will be interesting to see if anybody can lure him out Ohio.

In a conversation with Steve Serby of the New York Post, Love admits that the Knicks are greatfranchise and playing at MSG is special:

My dad used to talk about playing in the Garden and going against the great New York Knicks in the early ’70s, so I have a lot of stories of that growing up. … Going to play in the Garden is really the Mecca, and everybody always says unlike anything else, so yeah I mean, the Knicks are a great franchise to be a part of, but as of right now I’m a Cleveland Cavalier, and I see that for a long time being, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with my career. But as far as playing in New York, it’s unlike anything else, it’s really truly a treat.

Love’s dad, Stan, played for the Bullets, Lakers and Spurs in the 1970’s. He got an opportunity to experience the Garden and those great Knicks teams and eventually shared those experiences with his son. The younger Love is a student of the game and he can appreciate all the storied history that the Knicks and garden have to offer.

Love is focused on winning with the Cavs and there is no way he would openly admit any desire to play for the Knicks, even if that were the case. Love will demand max money this upcoming off-season, but will anybody convince him to leave LeBron and Kyrie Irving?
