18 – Phil Jackson – (1967-78) – Before Jackson’s unprecedented coaching success, Jackson played for more than a decade for the Orange and Blue. Jackson was more of a defensive specialist, known best for the “windmill” to distract the inbounds passer. Jackson was a key member of the Knicks ’73 Championship team.

Honorable Mention – Ernie Grunfeld – (2011-13) – #18 will go down as the “all management” uniform. Grunfeld has enjoyed more success as a GM, now rebuilding the Wizards, than as a player. In 5 seasons with the Knicks, Grunfeld averaged 5 points a game after a prolific college career at Tennessee as part of the “Ernie & Bernie Show” with Bernard King.
