1 of 5

There has been a dearth of great power forwards in Knicks history, but there are a few notable names that have transformed the franchise. The power forwards position may not be as decorated of a responsibly as others, but it is indeed one of the most important pieces in developing a championship team. Here is part four of the Top 5 series, the greatest Knick power forwards.

5. Amar’e Stoudemire

Amar’e Stoudemire signed with the New York Knicks in the summer of 2010 and he embraced the role as the leader who would bring the Knicks back to the playoffs.  Stoudemire emerged as one of the best power forwards in the NBA during his stint in Phoenix, and Knicks fans were delighted when he signed with the team. Although the Knicks missed out on LeBron James in the off-season, the city was amped after the acquisition of Stoudemire.

Stoudemire has played great this season and has led the Knicks to their first playoff appearance in seven years. Now that Stoudemire is paired with Carmelo Anthony, the team is set for deep playoff runs for the next several seasons. In his first campaign as a Knicks, Amar’e is averaging 25.3 ppg, 8.2 rpg and 2.6 apg.
