The 2017 NBA trade deadline is approaching and the New York Knicks need help along the perimeter. Which shooting guards might the Knicks consider?

The New York Knicks are going to define the trajectory of the 2016-17 NBA regular season at the trade deadline. Sitting 11 games below .500 and on the outside looking in of the postseason picture, the Knicks can either hold steady and hope for the best or commit to a vision.

Though solid at the position, one of the options on the table for New York is to improve the quality of play at shooting guard.

Courtney Lee is currently starting for the Knicks and Justin Holiday is filling in nicely as the backup. Holiday is capable of playing both wing positions, meaning he wouldn’t need to lose minutes because of a trade.

Regardless of how head coach Jeff Hornacek would handle the rotations, it’s clear that team president Phil Jackson has a crucial decision to make.

The Knicks are currently 23-34, yet they’re only 4.0 games back of the No. 8 seed with 25 games remaining. The time for a run has arrived, and the schedule won’t be easy to overcome, but New York has an opportunity to turn things around.

Whether the New York Knicks want to rebuild or make a last-second push for the playoffs, trading for one of these five available shooting guards could help them achieve their goal.
