The New York Knicks entered the 2016-17 regular season home opener in dire need of a quality showing. Following a 117-88 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York was 0-1 and searching for answers.

In front of a characteristically passionate crowd at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks defeated the Memphis Grizzlies by a score of 111-104.

New York’s players and coaches spent this past week discussing the need to play with a stronger sense of urgency. That much shined through against Memphis, as New York avoided a second consecutive blowout loss with a tremendous effort.

In Jeff Hornacek’s first regular season home game as head coach of the Knicks, he helped his team pull out a morale-boosting victory.

Kristaps Porzingis finished with 21 points and Courtney Lee added 16 for the victorious Knicks. It was about more than just two players, however, as the Knicks erupted in the first quarter and never looked back.

The question is: what do you need to know about the potential long-term ramifications of the Knicks’ 111-104 win over the Grizzlies?
