The New York Knicks have completed a turbulent and frustrating, yet generally successful 2016 NBA preseason. Despite the Derrick Rose’s legal issues and the on-court struggle of developing chemistry, New York managed to win more than it lost.

Though one can’t help but be excited about the highly-anticipated arrival of the 2016-17 NBA regular season, it’s important to first reflect upon what’s already transpired.

The NBA preseason may not count towards the regular season standings, but the Knicks have to be pleased with what they’ve seen. Despite playing five games without Rose and three without Joakim Noah, New York managed to go 4-2.

Far more important than the record itself is the fact that a number of unsung heroes have surfaced as potentially valuable contributors.

Carmelo Anthony’s success is a virtual given, especially when the platform is the preseason. Thus, the players highlighted will be those who haven’t yet established themselves as NBA stars or mainstays.

The question is: which members of the New York Knicks stepped up and made statements during the 2016 NBA preseason?
