For the first time since the 2010-11 season, the New York Knicks are embracing a youth movement. The previous attempt ended abruptly, when Donnie Walsh traded just about everyone not named Amar’e Stoudemire for Carmelo Anthony.

This time around, it appears as though Phil Jackson is going to see this process through.

One of the members of New York’s long-term vision appears to be Marshall Plumlee. Though he hasn’t been assured of his return in 2017-18, the opportunity has presented itself for Plumlee to prove himself in 2016-17.

According to Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders, the Knicks have signed Plumlee to a three-year deal with a fully guaranteed first season.

In other words, Plumlee will be a member of the organization for at least one season.

Plumlee is coming off of a 2015-16 season during which he stuffed the stat sheet for the Duke Blue Devils. He averaged 8.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.3 offensive rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 30.5 minutes per game.

If Plumlee can provide that type of production and versatility in the NBA, then the Knicks would make out like bandits from his signing.

As the Knicks gear up for the most important season in recent franchise history, one can’t help but wonder what Plumlee will provide in the short-term. He has a great mentor in Joakim Noah, but even that hasn’t silenced the skepticism.

Here are five reasons you should check your doubt at the door and embrace the reasons to love the Plumlee signing.
