The New York Knicks have made a vast number of changes. From the hiring of a new head coach to signings of and trades for starters and new reserves, the 2016-17 Knicks will bare very little resemblance to the team of 2015-16.

One of the few players who will return to the Knicks in 2016-17 is shooting guard Sasha Vujacic.

Vujacic, 32, spent the 2015-16 season with the Knicks. He received significant playing time under both Derek Fisher and Kurt Rambis, who’d previously associated with him during the Los Angeles Lakers’ title runs in 2009 and 2010.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, Vujacic accepted the veteran’s minimum to return to New York.

Team president Phil Jackson still values Vujacic’s presence.

Vujacic finished the 2015-16 season with averages of 4.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.9 3-point field goals made in 14.9 minutes per game. He did so on a slash line of .383/.364/.821.

Vujacic also made 52 3-point field goals and closed the season out in style, scoring in double-figures in four of the Knicks’ final five games.

Though his numbers may not be sensational, the Knicks have made a wise decision to bring Vujacic back. What he provides stretches beyond mere statistics, and that much must be acknowledged.

Though his playing time is expected to be limited, Vujacic could have significant value to the Knicks in 2016-17.
