Every time this New York Knicks team looks to be in trouble, it turns in an impressive performance, with a lot of those games coming on the road.

New York is 21-14 straight up on the road this season after beating the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, and it’s going to look to keep the momentum going on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers tonight.

However, it looks like the Knicks will once again have to do it without Jalen Brunson, who is listed as doubtful with a foot injury.

Portland is dealing with two key injuries as well in this game. Damian Lillard and Jerami Grant are both listed as questionable. If Lillard sits, this spread will skyrocket in favor of the Knicks.

The Blazers are on the outside of the play-in tournament picture in the West, sitting two games back of the No. 10 seed after losing three straight.

New York, on the other hand, is in a tie with the Brooklyn Nets in the standings but sits in the No. 6 seed. Who has the edge in this game?

Knicks vs. Blazers prediction and pick

If there’s a time to bet on the Knicks, it’s when they are set as road favorites this season.

New York is a league best 7-2 against the spread when favored on the road, and that’s not the only trend in the team’s favor tonight. Portland comes into this game just 4-5 against the spread as a home underdog this season.

Not having Brunson is obviously a huge loss for the Knicks, but the team has shown some resilience on this road trip, and it has gotten a few big games from RJ Barrett to make up for Brunson’s absence in the process.

Despite losing three straight games to close last week, the Knicks are still seventh in net rating over their last 10 matchups.

Portland ranks 29th (!!) in that same statistic.

The Blazers are struggling right now, especially on the defensive end, and things will only get worse if Lillard or Grant sits tonight. I’m going to get out ahead of any potential movement and back the Knicks to win on Tuesday.
