It’s been two and a half seasons since the New York Knicks beat the Brooklyn Nets, as they’ve lost nine straight to their divisional foe.

The Knicks have to be happy that Kyrie Irving (who torched them the last time these teams played) and Kevin Durant and are longer with Brooklyn, as it may give them a chance to finally snap this nasty losing streak to the other New York basketball team.

The Knicks are fresh off of a solid win over the Utah Jazz at Madison Square Garden, moving their season-long record at MSG to 15-15.

New York is just three games back of Brooklyn for the No. 5 seed in the East, and it’s hoping to make a run over the next few weeks of the season to avoid the league’s play-in tournament.

Both teams will be down one rotation player on Monday as Mitchell Robinson (thumb) has been ruled out for New York and Seth Curry (thigh) has been ruled out for Brooklyn.

Here are the odds and a pick for this Eastern Conference showdown:

It finally happens tonight.

The Knicks break the streak.

New York now has the talent advantage on the Nets with Irving and Durant gone, but the Nets do have a solid defense with the likes of Mikal Bridges, Dorian Finney-Smith and Nic Claxton.

Still, I give the Knicks the edge here for their offensive talent such as Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle and RJ Barrett.

The Knicks are also a much deeper team following the league’s trade deadline, adding wing Josh Hart, who played great in his debut against Utah on Saturday.

New York had a shot to win the last meeting between these teams, but Irving took over in the closing minutes, finishing the game with 32 points.

It’s hard to rely on past trends since Brooklyn’s team is so different, but the Knicks are playing better as of late with wins over Philadelphia, Miami, Boston and Cleveland in their last 10 games.

I’ll lay the short price with Tom Thibodeau’s group on Monday night.
