4: Quentin Grimes

If Quentin Grimes were to be included in a trade for Jaden Ivey on draft night, it’d be bittersweet. In his rookie year, the 22-year-old played in only 46 games. There are several fans who’d like to see him be New York’s starting shooting guard next season.

However, because of his youth and capabilities as a 3-and-D player, Grimes should draw trade interest. He was selected by New York at No. 25 less than a year ago, but he could soon be on the move.

If the Kings or Pistons are interested in adding a young, promising player to their lineup, look no further than Grimes. And if Grimes isn’t enough, Immanuel Quickley or Obi Toppin could end up being traded. To Knicks fans, that’d be the worst-case scenario, but trading up won’t come at a low cost.

You may have a differing opinion, but if New York can get Ivey without giving up Quickley or Toppin, most fans would view that as a win. It’d be a shame to see Grimes go so soon, especially since he hasn’t gotten an opportunity to tap into his true potential, but that may be what ends up happening.

Hopefully, there wouldn’t be a lot of ‘what ifs’ surrounding Grimes’ time with the Knicks if this were to end up happening. The hope should be that fans will be able to look back on it as a tough, yet necessary move.
