2022 NBA Mock Draft: What is going to happen on June 23?
By Mark Wessol
The Cavaliers had an unexpectedly solid season, thanks to the emergence of All-Star Darius Garland. Although it ended a little iffy, they should continue to build on what they have brewing.
I have Ochai Agabji as a day one contributor. He’s an elite defender, has an efficient and quick release 3-point jump shot, has impressive athleticism, and displayed individual progression over four years at Kansas.
He is on the “older” side of rookies at 22 years of age, but to me, that means he is mature and isn’t afraid of the moment, as he has played in so many games already. Cleveland would get a good one here.
This is a pick I am fairly confident the Hornets will shop and eventually trade before their time on the clock is up. They are in need of a center and will look to either obtain one later in the draft or attach the No. 15 pick in a trade offer for one.
Tari Eason is a two-way prospect and can help on defense with his length and size. Eason is capable of hitting threes with underrated ball handling skills.
His athleticism shouldn’t go unnoticed, either. In fact, I believe that is the most intriguing part of his game. The way he can get to the basket and finish effortlessly already looks NBA-ready and should translate well.
Look for a team to come in here and “reach” for Eason.
