149. Baylor. Jeremy Sochan. 12. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. PF

Jeremy Sochan is a player that helped himself throughout the college basketball season and draft combine. He is a very intelligent high motored player who can hit threes, cut to the basket, and find his teammates.

The main part of his game, however, is his defense, both on and off the ball. His size makes it tough for the opposition to get by or muscle through him, and if you play defense like him, any NBA team will gladly have you.

His shot isn’t your prototypical NBA form, which has caused some questions, but if he can figure out how to get it off, he’ll find himself consistent minutes at the next level.

The rebuilding Thunder can take some time and develop players, so Sochan here makes sense.

AJ Griffin. 13. Scouting Report. SF/PF. Duke. player. 170. Pick Analysis

The Hornets ranked among the bottom half in defensive rankings last season, so drafting a 3 & D player makes sense here. They would get just that and potentially more with AJ Griffin.

I’ve seen a lot of talk about Griffin and people having him higher on their big boards, but his injuries are just a bit of a concern to me and, in my opinion, to other NBA teams.

Griffin was out his entire senior year of high school with an ankle issue and also came into Duke on a minutes restriction because of his knee.

But don’t get it twisted, I think Griffin is extremely talented and can make a lot of teams regret passing on him. A pure jump shot with a nice frame to defend, he is a coach’s dream. He’d be some added defense to the Hornets, who could make some noise next year.
