8: Gordon Hayward

Gordon Hayward is a name that has only popped up very recently, but if the Knicks weren’t willing to beat out Charlotte for his signature two years ago, they shouldn’t be willing to take him on now.

When healthy, the former Jazz star could be a good role player in New York, but like we’ve seen in his time with the Hornets, he’s way too inconsistent.

If the Knicks are to move on from Randle, a veteran between Toppin, Quickley, and Barrett in the starting lineup would make complete sense, but it’s unlikely the Knicks seriously pursue Hayward.

He has played in 80 games or more just once in his career, and while it would be a trade that sees this team keep all their young names, it just doesn’t make sense.

Pass or pursue: In free agency two years ago, this is a name the Knicks reportedly pursued, but given the lack of availability two years later, it’s very much a pass.
