V.J. Beachem, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Position: Small Forward
Age: 22 (1/15/1995)
Height & Weight: 6’8″ & 200 pounds
2016-17 Slash Line: .443/.387/.818
2016-17 Season Averages: 34.0 MPG, 15.3 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 1.1 BPG, 0.9 SPG, 2.6 3PM

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish haven’t produced the longest list of NBA players, but V.J. Beachem has high-level role player potential. He’s a tall and long sharpshooter who can space the floor and work the wings for a professional team.

If the New York Knicks are looking to pad the perimeter with shooters during the second round, then Beachem could be an ideal player to target.

Beachem is a proven 3-point shooter who has the size and range to be valuable to every NBA team. He shot well above 40 percent during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, and made 42 and 88 3-point field goals during those seasons.

In 2016-17, Beachem is averaging a career-high in 3-point field goals made per game and is defending at the highest level of his career.

For the Knicks, adding Beachem would mean adding a player who can be both a backup small forward and a stretch 4. He must solidify other aspects of his game, but he moves well without the ball and has an outstanding stroke from distance.

Jeff Hornacek knows how to put shooters to good use and Beachem is the type of player who could feast in his system.
