The New York Knicks’ franchise players are working out together again. Check out the recent training session with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis.
There are few better veteran and rising star combinations in the NBA than Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis. Not only do they have cohesive offensive games, but Anthony has embraced the role of a mentor.
That mentorship continued on Friday, September 2 when Anthony and Porzingis linked up for an offseason training session.
Anthony has taken Porzingis under his wing and helped him adjust to life in the NBA. He’s taught him many of his own skills and while essentially becoming Porzingis’ big brother with the New York Knicks.
Anthony and Porzingis continued their brotherhood with a workout session near what appears to be Chelsea Piers.
The faces of the franchise, ladies and gentlemen.
Despite the incessant rumors that Anthony didn’t like the Porzingis selection at the 2015 NBA Draft, he’s been a great leader. He took Porzingis under his wing from Day 1 of their union as teammates.
Between offseason workouts, in-game conversations, and intense one-on-one battles, Anthony has pushed Porzingis to new limits.
Along with being a social activist and philanthropist, Anthony is one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. He’s No. 29 on the all-time scoring list, won the 2013 scoring title, and has never averaged fewer than 20 points per game.
If anyone can teach Porzingis how to put his remarkably well-rounded offensive skill set to the best possible use, it’s Anthony.
Porzingis had a historic rookie season. He became the first and only player in league history to record at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 100 blocks, and 75 3-point field goals during their first NBA season.
Anthony is now working with Porzingis to help him achieve something more important than the numbers: team success.
The development of Porzingis as a franchise player is in wonderful hands.
