Kyrie Irving is reportedly interested in being traded to the New York Knicks. Here are five reasons the Knicks should go all-in on Irving.

The New York Knicks don’t often receive the opportunity to make a move for a perennial All-Star. Despite playing in a market that should draw free agents, the Knicks have been generally disregarded by the biggest of names.

On Friday, July 21, a report emerged that suggests New York’s reputation may be improving around the NBA.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN was the first to report that Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving has requested a trade. The four-time All-Star has made three consecutive NBA Finals appearances with Cleveland, but is interested in receiving a more prominent role offensively.

According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, the Knicks are one of the four teams that Irving is interested in joining via a trade.

Irving doesn’t have a no-trade clause, which means Cleveland can trade him wherever it chooses to, but New York is an intriguing option.

Knicks franchise player Carmelo Anthony has expressed a willingness to waive his no-trade clause in order to join either the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Houston Rockets. Thus, New York could conceivably create a package centered around Anthony in order to acquire Irving.

The question is: Should the New York Knicks be going all-in on a trade for Kyrie Irving?

So long as Kristaps Porzingis isn’t included in the trade, the answer is a resounding yes.
