If the New York Knicks succeed in acquiring another lottery pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, then Indiana Hoosiers star OG Anunoby should be near the top of the big board.

The New York Knicks will enter the 2017 NBA Draft with the No. 8 overall selection. As trade rumors swirl around Carmelo Anthony, and the Knicks explore new avenues to success, however, that may not be the only first-round draft pick that New York finishes with.

If the Knicks manage to acquire a second first-round draft pick, then Indiana Hoosiers star OG Anunoby should be firmly on the radar.

Anunoby burst onto the NBA Draft scene during the 2016 NCAA Tournament. His raw tenacity, coupled with his willingness to play both ends of the floor, made him a project player whom general managers were hoping to have a chance at developing.

Anunoby instead returned to college for the 2016-17 campaign and strengthened his resume—a statement that comes with a crucial caveat.

Before moving forward, it must be noted that, in late January, Anunoby suffered a season-ending knee injury that required surgery. It’s a medical red flag that can’t be ignored as his NBA future is weighed and considered by front offices.

The question is: why should the New York Knicks look past the injury concerns and give OG Anunoby a chance to realize his potential in the NBA?
