The New York Knicks will miss the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season. It’s time to evaluate the true problem. It’s not the triangle offense.

It wasn’t too long ago that Derrick Rose called the New York Knicks a super team. Some New York supporters believed they could have been a top team in the Eastern Conference.

New York had their version of a big three with Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, and Rose. Those three were supposed to carry the team this season. However, the big three carried the team for only 29 games, and then the Knicks fell into a slump.

Not only did the Knicks have a disappointing season, but New York also made the news headlines almost every week. The reason for the headlines was because the Knicks were a reality TV show. I say “reality tv” show because the Knicks went through a lot of drama all season long.

The drama all started when Phil Jackson went on CBS and told the reporters that Anthony would be better if he didn’t hold the ball for so long. Then Rose went AWOL and the fans booed their favorite player.

It all culminated with the Knicks not making the playoffs with a talented roster.

Brandon Jennings exposed one of the main issues for the Knicks in 2016-17: effort. Rose called the majority of his baskets “random” because of the triangle. Joakim Noah was suspended for 20 games for using a banned supplement.

It all started so well, but the New York Knicks fell apart by season’s end.
