The New York Knicks have made swooping changes to the roster. There will be new starters at point guard, shooting guard, and center, as well as a new backup point guard and a number of additions to the front court.

With signings such Willy Hernangomez, Brandon Jennings, Mindaugas Kuzminskas, Courtney Lee, Joakim Noah, and Derrick Rose, this is a new-look Knicks team.

Entering free agency, Carmelo Anthony, Kyle O’Quinn, and Kristaps Porzingis were the only players under contract who were on the team in 2015-16. Many changes have since occurred, but one of the Knicks’ free agents will return

It took some time for a deal to be reached, but fan favorite Lance Thomas will return to the Knicks on a four-year contract.

Knicks fans should be thrilled to see Thomas back with the team.

Thomas finished the 2015-16 season with averages of 8.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.7 3-point field goal made in 22.3 minutes. He did so on an efficient slash line of .442/.404/.857, and committed just 1.0 turnover per game.

Far bigger than the numbers, however, was the clear impact he had on what worked for the Knicks.

Thomas played a number of roles—and positions—for the Knicks during the 2015-16 season. He endeared himself to his fans and coaches, stepped up during times of trial, and created the reputation of a valuable long-term asset.

With very few reasons to oppose it, this is why you should love the Lance Thomas signing.
